.URL file – change icon per scheme type? (On Windows 10.)

0

In Windows there is different icon handling for file with .url extension. So its icon could not be changed in classic file extension fashion. (This is because .url file serves different URI schemes.)

Sample:

[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=529576

I would like to change icon per scheme type. This could be achieved also via registry keys change. I don’t know which and how.

Perhaps, there is some editor for this purpose. For instance there exist URLProtocolView from NirSoft.

For handling URL scheme is reponsible some Asynchronous Pluggable Protocol Handler. Maybe the icons could be also managed through it somehow.

How to change .url file icon in per scheme way? Let start with HTTP and HTTPS scheme.

Edit

As Scott mentioned. I want to set icon for all files that do not have icon specified.

IconIndex=0
IconFile=C:Program Files (x86)appfile.ico

If there is option to set it per scheme I want it too.

    So, do you want to override the IconFile= specification in the .url file?  Or just specify a default icon for .url files that don’t have an IconFile= specification?  Or would you like a way to edit the IconFile= specifications in all .url files?  … … … … … … … … … … Please do not respond in comments; edit your question to make it clearer and more complete.
