ffmpeg as 'dummy' DASH/HLS player?

0

I need to stress-test a video streaming server, so I'd like to stream the DASH/HLS content, but not decode it. Basically, just traverse the DASH manifest or HLS playlist (as it updates), then fetch and discard whatever it specifies.

The following ffmpeg command works for HLS:

ffmpeg -y -loglevel verbose -i https://192.168.11.111/streaming1/service1/master.m3u8 -c copy -f null -

However, the equivalent command fails for DASH:

ffmpeg -y -loglevel verbose -i https://192.168.11.111/streaming1/service1/manifest.mpd -c copy -f null -

The thing is, both streams are being generated by Shaka packager and use the same media segment files. And both streams play fine using any player (VLC, dash.js, hls.js, bitmovin, etc.).
