Windows 10 installed on an external ssd with Mac Mojave: What happens to Windows activation if the external...

0

I recently installed Windows 10 Edu to my external ssd on my Mac Mojave through WinToUsb. So, when I hold option key during the booting, it allows me to choose to boot from my external hard drive which has Windows installed.

I purchased a valid Windows 10 Edu from onthehub and got a product key. I activated the copy of Windows installed on my ssd with the product key given.

I am aware that Microsoft doesn't allow Windows to be installed on a usb drive. So, I realized that the Windows cannot be installed or updated using the SetUp.

My concern has to do with the activation with the product key. If my external hard drive (where the Windows is installed on) fails or get wipe out, could I still transfer the license/product key to my new ssd, formatted original ssd, or my mac's internal ssd (using bootcamp)?

I've read solutions to problems where people needed to transfer their Windows license from their dead laptop to a new computer by either formatting the hard disk or deactivating the product key. But in the case of Windows installed on an external hard drive, if it’s wiped out, I won’t have chance to deactivate my product key, right? But then if I don’t deactivate it for whatever reason, when I go ahead and reinstall Windows 10 iso to my external ssd and activated it with the product key I have, won’t they later on or on that moment tell me that it was being activated on more than one pc?

I’ve read articles about how Microsoft now keeps digital license in their server which has like a unique hash value of the computer’s hardware associated with the product key. From my understanding, some people say that it is the case for all windows 10(https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-quietly-rewrites-its-activation-rules-for-windows-10/), but others say it is the case only if the purchase method falls under certain categories(https://pureinfotech.com/how-activation-works-windows-10-digital-entitlement-vs-product-key/). According to that, I guess my purchase doesn’t have a digital license, but I’m not sure.

Here comes my questions:
1) If you purchased a product key for Window 10 (any edition), do you automatically get a digital licensing? Or, do I have to register my product key on their website? Or, does it not apply to my situation?

2)Also, the thing is, since I’ve installed through and on WinToUsb, will digital license be associated with my Mac (because that's where my external ssd was booting windows and activated it) even if I installed it on my external ssd? If so, if my external ssd gets wiped off, and if I try to re-install Windows 10 Edu, will it automatically activate it by reading the digital license like they say it would on a normal Windows PC? (I've read articles that says if there was a major hardware change, like motherboard, then the digital license is going to be changed. So, I was guessing may be which hard drive I used didn't really matter. But this is just my guess!)

3)Would deactivating the product key work on windows installed on an external ssd through WindToUsb at all?

4)If the external ssd does get wiped off, and I format it later on, will the product key be automatically deactivated from that external ssd? Will I be able to use the same product key on a new external ssd or the same external ssd I've currently used to install Windows on?

5)Some people said calling their phone activation center solves the problem. But in my case, I installed on an external hard drive which is technically not allowed by Microsoft. Will they let me use or transfer the product key in case the external ssd is wiped?

6)To make things short, will I be able to reactivate my product key without any future problem after reinstalling windows on a different external ssd with WinToUsb if my current external ssd with a windows 10 installed through WinToUsb is wiped or failed?

I've never asked a question to this community before, so please bear with me if the format is wrong or awkward. I'm sorry that my questions are all over the place!
