Persist Cell Selection in Google Sheets

When I am edit (not just select) a cell in google sheets, can I just keep the caret and the cell data where it is after scrolling down (i.e so it is 'off screen' instead of having that floating input field?.
Here is an image of the 'floating input field' (in blue):
