CIFS Windows share mounts fine using mount.cifs but gives Error 13 with fstab
I'm having issues getting my Windows file share to auto mount in Ubuntu Server 18.10.
Running
sudo mount.cifs //192.168.1.96/Media /mnt/Media -o username='username@live.com'
will prompt for a password, and upon entering it will mount correctly.
In /etc/fstab there is a line which looks like this
//192.168.1.96/Media /mnt/Media cifs credentials=/mnt/.smbcred 0 0
and /mnt/.smbcred looks like
username='username@live.com'
password='password'
However running
sudo mount -a
will give the error
mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
I've tried adding a combination of
rw,uid=1000,gid=1000,nounix,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777
after credentials=/mnt/.smbcred but no change in the result.
Does anyone have any ideas?
