Bluetooth headset buzzing background noise when playing sound

I have this buzzing background noise when any sound is played, including for example the small ping when you adjust the volume of headset/speakers that Windows plays.

I've checked that all microphones (laptop internal & headset mic) are not set to 'Listen to this device' in the Windows 7 sound options, I've tried disabling them all anyway and this still doesn't help. Windows also does not give me the option to use any of the normal enhancements such as noise cancellation with this headset.

I've searched a lot on the internet so far the only causes I found where the 'Listen to this device' option and interference from a WiFi device. I tried turning off both the laptops wifi and my phone's, it didn't help.

Here is a link to the device:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=ru&ctn=SHB9100/00

Another example of when I hear the noise is when a YouTube video is open even if it is paused, I end up upping the volume just to drown out the buzz. Once I close the YouTube video it's gone again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm sorry, what is f.e ? Does this happen only with the Bluetooth headphones - what about your normal speakers on the laptop, or if you plug in wired headphones, does the problem persist? Does this happen only with music or when there is also video?

  • Further question - does this happen when the headphones are paired to another device, or only with the Windows machine?

  • This is only with the windows machine (f.e.= for example btw, f.e. not with my Galaxy S smartphone) i only have this problem when the headphones are connected via bluetooth not with a stereo cable (it can do both). This happens with ALL SOUNDS, including youtube, videos on my HDD, music, etc.. Furthermore in my sound options the bluetooth headset is displayed as a seperate audio device to my speakers, meaning any adjustments to the speakers don't have an impact on the bluetooth connected headphones, this is only the case when i connect it via the cable. Disable the speakers doesnt help either

  • Also, the sound quality is actually ok, just this background noise all the time. Intresting thing to note: I need to disable the bluetooth mic, or the headset switches to ugly mono sound whenever the mic picks up a sound, however this does not happen when i disable it, and the sound is fine except for the background buzz. I'm pretty sure it's something with windows as this device works perfectly with my Galaxy S, and while connected via cable with my laptop. Thanks for the help so far

  • Another example about how it happens with everything i hear the buzz whenever a youtube video is opened on both chrome and firefox, along with every other sound i have tested so far (also the windows audio test jingle)

I think this problem is related to the bluetooth connection. I mean, when the bluetooth connection starts (in case of any kind of sound that need to be transmitted) there is a sort of interference between the audio signal and the bluetooth signal and the headphones are not able to hide it.
