Chrome Helvetica French Characters Spacing

Chrome has begun to render Helvetica in quite a weird manner and it started affecting the way accentuated characters are spaced. It happens with French and Romanian accents and diacritics. Here's an example: French
I had the same issue in the past, but I solved it somehow. Now I can't seem to find any solution anywhere. I tried editing the Custom.css file in User StyleSheets, although the folder wasn't there in the first place, so I created it instead. No results. I tried to reset my font settings, I also reset the Advanced Font Settings, but with no success. I feel like it's impossible to solve this.
Many thanks to whoever can help me figure this out.
