I can't seem to download Visual Studio Community 2017 onto my secondary hdd

0

I have an SSD as my C: drive which I use to boot and store a few steam games but I also have a secondary 1TB HDD (F:) which is used for large files and applications that don't need fast boot up times. This being said, I want to install visual studio to my F: drive but it only seems to want to install to my C: drive.

After choosing what workloads I would like, I press the change location button as it says that it wants to install in C: drive.

This redirects me to the Installation Locations tab and I change the location to a folder on my F: drive but I get the error "Visual Studio cannot be installed to a nonempty directory"

image showing the error

even though the directory is indeed empty:

Does anyone know a solution to this issue? I would very much like it if I can use my HDD for Visual Studio as my SSD doesn't have that much space.

  • Which language development do you use with VS17? There is an option to selectively make offline installer package and install it thus taking lower space.

  • I mainly use C# but sometimes I use python or C++
