Demultiplexing a T1 connection without expensive hardware

Multi tool use
This network has not yet been built, but I am investigating if this is possible. I want to connect a few analog phone lines and connect them to a modern server to route the connections.
I have on one side of the network a bunch of phone lines that are multiplexed with a channel bank into a T1 connection. On the other side, I have some Linux server. How can I demultiplex these connections? Is possible to convert T1 (RJ-48) into Ethernet (RJ-45) by using some kind of specialized hardware or software?

T1 service has been typically implemented using HDSL equipment since the 1990s. Such xDSL equipment is paired, so you need to know what is at the other end of your T1 line to determine what you need at your end. You will probably need "some kind of specialized hardware", but there is a lot of used telco equipment available (e.g. eBay).
